An integral part of “The Big Red Machine” from 1970 to 1976, Johnny Bench was perhaps the Cincinnati Reds’ finest catcher. During his time with the Reds, Johnny was selected to the All-Star Game 14 times, awarded the Gold Glove 10 times (including his rookie season) and helped the Reds win two World Series championships. Known for his strong throwing arm and expert defense, Bench contributed heavily to the Reds success during his 17 years with the team. The Reds, recognizing a future Hall of Famer, retired his #5 jersey in 1996, three years before Bench was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Celebrate the career of a baseball legend with his commemorative Hall of Fame coin card from The Highland Mint. It features a solid bronze Hall of Fame coin with a full color image of Bench embedded in the center. Each coin is protected in a 4" x 6" acrylic display containing an image of Bench in action on the front and a picture of his Hall of Fame plaque on the back. This set is strictly limited to the year Bench was inducted and is officially licensed by the MLB and MLBPA.
