Description
Nicknamed Eck, Dennis Eckersley was former pitcher who played thirteen years in the Major Leagues. He had early success as a started, but gained fame for his ability as a closer, becoming one of only two people to have a 20-win season and a 50-save season in a career. Eckersley was to the All-Star game six times, a two-time winner of the Rolaids Relief Man of the Year award, and won the World Series in 1989. His #43 was retired by the A's and in 2004, Eckersley was elected to the Hall of Fame.
