Emmitt Smith was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys as the 17th pick overall in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft. Emmitt flourished as a rookie, becoming the NFL Rookie of the Year by rushing for 937 yards and 11 touchdowns on 241 carries — averaging 3.9 yards per carry. Smith led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl Championships in 1992, '93 and '95, and was named the NFL Most Valuable Player in 1993. On October 27, 2002 Smith marched into the NFL record books breaking Walter Payton’s all-time career rushing record of 16,726 yards. He retired in 2004 with 18,355 career rushing yards and currently holds the all-time rushing record for touchdowns with 164. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010, Emmitt Smith is one NFL player whose legacy will not soon be forgotten.
